Theater District Homes For Sale
Boston offers myriad cultural amenities that rank the city as one of the most culturally rich cities in the world. Virtually every Boston neighborhood has at least one world class cultural venue that attracts tourists and Boston natives alike. However, no other Boston neighborhood displays the rich culture displayed by the aptly named Theater District. Nestled between Chinatown and South End, the Theater District offers high-end housing for wealthier property owners. Classically designed Victorian homes scatter about the glitzy neighborhood, with a few modernly designed condominium complexes providing shelter for the financial gurus that work in the Financial District. As the epicenter of Boston's theater scene, the Theater District presents Broadway hit shows, as well as repertory company productions that showcase local talent.
The Wilbur Theater and Boston Opera House anchor the culturally rich events presented in the Theater District. Both venues sell out regularly, which means local independently owned shops and restaurants bustle throughout the year. The strong commercial tax base ensures the neighborhood receives city services to keep the streets and buildings in pristine condition. Revenue derived from small businesses enhances the value of properties not only located within the Theater District, but also properties in adjoining neighborhoods. Suffolk University purchased the Modern Theater in 2008 and the renovation effort landed the venue a Preservation Honor Award given by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Several landmarks located within the Theater District enjoy protection from government funded historic preservation organizations.
Located less than a half mile from the Theater District, the South Station acts as Boston's primary transportation hub. Several light rail lines run underground at the South Station, connecting riders to trains that cover the entire Boston metro area. Amtrak stops at the South Station, which gives Theater District residents a convenient form of travel to reach countryside homes. Boston Public Garden sits along the western edge of the Theater District. The sprawling open green space offers Theater District residents a serene place to get away from all of the frenzy that accompanies culturally rich neighborhoods.
